The Medical Assistant Apprenticeship Program offers a unique opportunity to earn while you learn. Participants receive classroom instruction at Macomb Community College and immediately apply what they learn through hands-on experience in the workplace, allowing them to build practical skills while gaining valuable real-world experience.

Front & Back Office Training
Medical Assistants are crossed trained to learn front and back office job responsibilities.
Front Office
- Learn our Electronic Medical Records (EMR) System – ATHENA
- Phones
- Check in/Check out
- Scheduling Appointments
- Insurance/Billing-basics
Back Office
- Interacting with patients hands on to learn GREAT bedside manner
- Learning different types of testing:
- Pregnancy tests
- Mono
- Covid-19
- UA Strep Tests
- Learning/Assisting on different procedures:
- Pap smears
- Lesion removals
- Suturing
Career Pathway Program
Program Benefits
- Wage increases as competencies are completed
- CURRENTLY OFFERED: Spot bonus payments of $1,850 at the beginning of each of the four (4) 8-week semesters
- Offices will work with school schedule
- In general, work 16 hours/week in the office when classes are in session
- Ability to work more hours when classes are not in session
- Full-time employment opportunities at the completion of the apprenticeship
- Experience, knowledgeable, and CERTIFIED Medical Assistant Trainers
