This position will work approximately 16 hours per week. 


Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Prepares and positions patients for x-rays and selects exposure factors accurately.
  • Observes patient during procedure and reports abnormal activity. Monitors protocols and recommends updates or refinements as warranted.
  • Follows radiation safety procedures and guidelines. Prevents patient from being exposed to unnecessary radiation.
  • May be asked to provide proper instruction and guidance to clinical staff, which may include evaluating, assessing, and documenting competency in the department as applied.
  • May need to assist with patient care and/or other duties as requested by leader or provider.
  • Maintains maintenance on machine and makes sure all state requirements are satisfied (license, calibration etc.). Does tracking on repeat patient exposures.
  • Reviews all x-ray reports, distributes them to the providers, and documents appropriately in the electronic medical record.
  • Adds/deletes employee badges for x-ray exposure.
  • Reviews employee x-ray exposure report and takes appropriate steps for exposure.

Qualifications and Requirements

The qualifications/requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • COMPLEXITY OF WORK: Within scope of job, this position requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment.
  • PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT: Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
  • EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma required. Graduation from an accredited school of Radiologic Technology.
  • CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, OTHER: American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Registered Technologist in Radiography R.T.(R)(ARRT) required. Must be either in good standing or registry eligible. If registry eligible, must become registered within one (1) year of hire. BLS Healthcare Provider (BLS-HCP) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) prior to start/hire date required.
  • WORK EXPERIENCE: One (1) year of experience preferred.
